Tips on Paid DJ Song Requests
Give guests an optional tip field inside the paid-request checkout
DJ Request does not offer a standalone tipping page. When paid requests are enabled and eligible, guests can add an optional tip to a song request before Stripe authorizes the payment.
Fee summary: DJ Request applies no app fee to tips or boosts and a 15% app fee to accepted base request amounts. Stripe processing fees and payout timing still apply.
How Request-Attached Tips Work
QR Code at the Venue
Display the event QR code at the booth, on screens, or on table cards. Guests scan, choose a song, and can add an optional tip during an eligible paid-request checkout.
Secure Stripe Payments
Guests pay via credit card, debit card, or Apple Pay through Stripe. Payments are PCI-compliant and secure. Guests receive an instant receipt by email.
No DJ Request App Fee on Tips
Tips and boosts have no DJ Request app fee. Accepted base request amounts carry a 15% app fee, and Stripe processing fees apply to payments.
Stripe-Managed Payouts
Accepted payments are processed through your connected Stripe account. Stripe determines availability, payout schedule, and bank-transfer timing.
Base Requests, Tips, and Boosts
Optional tip
A guest can add a tip to an eligible paid song request in the same checkout. The tip is not a standalone payment and does not change the DJ's decision about the song.
DJ Request applies no app fee to the tip; Stripe processing applies to the payment total.
Paid Priority Requests
Guests authorize payment for a specific song request. You see the song, note, and payment details; accepting captures the payment, while declining releases the authorization.
Perfect for: weddings, private events, bars where guests compete for queue position.
Illustrative Revenue Scenarios
These are planning examples, not reported customer results. Base-request examples are shown before the 15% DJ Request app fee and Stripe processing.
Bar / Club Night
10 accepted base requests at $5 each = $50 gross before the 15% app fee and Stripe processing. Actual request volume varies.
Wedding Reception
20 accepted base requests at $10 each = $200 gross. The 15% app fee is $30; after a $10 Pro Pass, $160 remains before Stripe processing and other business costs.
Private Event
Use your own accepted-request count and prices to model gross volume, then subtract the 15% base-request app fee, your selected plan, Stripe processing, and other business costs.
Compare total fees: DJ Request charges 15% on accepted base request amounts and no app fee on tips or boosts. Verify competitors' current pricing and include Stripe processing in any comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can DJs accept tips through a QR code?
Guests can add an optional tip while checking out with an eligible paid song request. DJ Request does not currently provide a separate tip-only checkout. Its app fee does not apply to the tip, while Stripe processing fees and payout timing still apply.
Does DJ Request have a standalone DJ tip page?
No. Tips are optional additions to eligible paid song requests, not standalone payments. Guests begin from the event QR request page and complete the request through Stripe.
How does a guest add a tip?
For an eligible paid request, the guest scans the event QR code, chooses a song, and can add an optional tip in the same checkout. The DJ still decides whether to accept the request.
How much can DJs earn from tips and paid requests?
Results vary by event, audience, price, and request volume. Model gross requests separately from DJ Request's 15% base-request app fee and Stripe processing, then use your own event history to set realistic expectations.
What fees apply to request-attached tips?
DJ Request applies a 15% app fee to the accepted base request amount but not to its optional tip or boost. Stripe processing applies to the payment total, and payout timing follows the connected Stripe account.
